How to play
You are presented with an 8x8 grid and two sets of pieces — white and black. Players alternate turns, aiming to checkmate their opponent's king, leaving it in a position where it cannot escape the threat. White begins the game. Each turn allows a player to move one piece according to its unique rules: - A pawn advances one square forward, or two from its starting position, and captures diagonally by one square. - A rook slides horizontally or vertically across any number of unoccupied squares. - The bishop glides diagonally across any number of open squares. - The knight makes an 'L' shape move: two squares in one direction and one square perpendicularly, jumping over pieces. - The queen, being the most powerful piece, moves any number of spaces horizontally, vertically, or diagonally. - The king moves one square in any direction and must be safeguarded; if threatened, it's called a check.Game info
